Abbey Ryan was born in 1979, and grew up at the Jersey Shore. She studied science and art at Arcadia University, where she earned a BA in Scientific Illustration and a BFA in Painting. Later, Abbey moved to NYC where she attended Hunter College for her MFA in Painting. She has studied with David Leffel at the Art Students League, and with Charles Sovek at the Creative Arts Center in Chatham. In addition to her studies with David Leffel in particular, Abbey continues to be influenced by the time she spent in Northern California and Pohnpei, Micronesia. She currently lives and works in Philadelphia.
