On of my early hobbies was pencil drawing fueled by my natural ability and a strong desire to improve this skill. Being a self taught artist until my senior year in High School, the college level drawing class being offered intrigued me, for many years I also attended drawing classes. Eventually my interests moved toward taking watercolor classes and learning how to use this medium. This kept my interest for two decades along with pursuits working with fabric, wood, plaster and other materials. My husband, two children and our life together filled my idle times during this period.
In 1999 my art desires and business skills inspired me to become an owner/operator of an art supply and custom framing store. I worked at becoming an expert in a wide variety of art materials and techniques. My store contained a learning center where a variety of classes and instructors taught. I enjoyed teaching children to draw.
My interest in oils was sparked while traveling through West Virginia, we came across the Flemish Realism oil painter David E. Weaver's studio. David was such an inspiration to me that oils became my medium of further learning and focus. I studied and apprenticed with this artist for many years. My interest in oils, different styles and processes inspires me to attend workshops continuing to learn and explore with others while developing my own style.
