Gwen received her college degree in Advertising Art, majoring in Illustration, worked in-house in ad agencies, freelanced in design and illustration and was Art Director for Global TV Saskatoon, Canada. All during that time she continued with her first love, to paint in studio, producing fine art predominantly in portraiture and realism. Then mid 1990's whe was forced to leave the corporate world (due to health problems) and struggled to stay in studio to continue to both produce paintings and continue her fine art studies. However she was forced to leave her art behind for a few years while she cared full time for her Mother who developed Alzheimer's.

Having moved to Toronto, Canada, she is working on building her presence in this very lively contemporary art focused community. Her work is still realism based but more into the impressionistic, expressionistic vein. She tries to not only represent the physical aspect of the subject matter but also the emotional and ephemeral. To paint what lies within or beneath, or as she puts it in her blog, "To paint the Edge of a Dream, what lies underneath and moves through all." That's what she wants to reveal in her work no matter if painting a luscious berry or a woman's sorrow or joy. As she says, "Art can MOVE people, move them to do or be something positive, better, kinder, more compassionate and I try to do that in my work. Also, some times, it's just to express the absolute stunning beauty of the moment, and I hope to capture and express that feeling, that emotion, in my work".

Gwen has been accepted into shows both regional and national in scope. Her work hangs in public and private collections in Canada, the United States and in the Philippines. Gwen is currently represented at "Modern Country Interiors" in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan and is preparing for exhibition in Toronto. For a CV or more information please feel free to email her.
