Why do I paint?  Because I gotta!

Seriously, I was born wanting to be a painter.  I feel most alive when I am at my easel or drawing board.  I am very fortunate to be able to live my childhood dream, at least part-time (I also work as a freelance web designer and technical illustrator).

I work in a variety of media, at different times for different reasons: oil, encaustic, acrylic, ink, and watercolor pencils, crayons and paints, but oil paint is my favorite.  It’s so juicy and vibrant!

What do I paint?  Everything!

I have always been interested in a wide array of things, from art to science, politics and society, language and cultures, and many things in-between.  Many of my interests will eventually show up in my paintings in one form or another.  I currently do both abstract and representational work.  Here at Daily Paintworks, you will find some of my tornado series and my current small still life paintings.  I am just starting to post some of my new abstract work here, too.

The one thread that remains constant throughout all of my work is my desire to create beautiful arrangements of colors and shapes on the canvas.  I like my art to be fun and to transmit the joy I experience when I'm painting.  I hope you enjoy viewing it as much as I enjoy creating it.
