PEOPLE YOU SHOULD KNOW!
My name is Muhammad Yungai; I am an artist and Visual Arts Teacher at KIPP WAYS
Academy.
During the 29 days of Black History Month, I will be painting 29 great Black people! "29 Black People You Should Know!" Each piece will be
auctioned here and 25% of the proceeds will purchase art supplies for blossoming
young artists.
Why?
Many of my former students are beginning to go to college. I started to wonder
if they had support as creative people, and had what they needed to
practice their craft. Animation majors may need computer equipment; Fine Art
majors may need oil paints. I want to do something to help keep these creative
students on their paths to success. What better time than Black History Month
to do something for the future creators and producers.
What can you do to help?
Follow the paintings as they arrive and bid on the one(s) you like. You
can also help by telling friends about this project.
The paintings are 16x20 in size, acrylic paint on canvas. The paintings
will arrive ready to hang and each painting will be accompanied with a
certificate of authenticity. This can be a really inexpensive way to buy an
original art piece!
So in addition to keeping our scholars on the road to success, this painting
event will honor our magnificent and tumultuous history!
