Ria is a self-taught contemporary pastel painter. She was born in The Netherlands, raised in New York and presently lives in rural Massachusetts.
In 2006 Ria set a goal to complete a painting a day making small works more affordable to collectors. What she discovered through the process was improvement in her work through discipline and the joy of painting simple subjects. Although she does not complete a painting each day she devotes a few hours a day to working in her studio.
Her work can be found at The Preservation Framer in N. Attleboro, MA., the Upstairs Gallery in Erwinna, PA. and in the homes of collectors throughout the Americas and Europe. She continues to exhibit in juried shows throughout New England and has received numerous awards for the past 20 years. Ria has been a featured artist online in American Artist's Magazine and Artist's Magazine.
Food art, pet portraits and vineyards have become favorite subjects to paint. Painting primarily in pastel Ria also works in oils & acrylics.
