Austin artist Susan Abston Wiley is passionate about color and drama in her art, regardless of the subject or media.  She works comfortably in oil, pastel, acrylic, and watercolor.  Sue is drawn to the portrayal of huge, almost abstract close-ups of flowers, animals, and other elements of nature, as well as landscapes of the Texas countryside near her home in Austin.

Sue’s artistic training includes a minor in Art and Art History from the University of Vermont, and training under such notable American artists as William Kalwick, Jr., Qiang Huang, Richard McKinley, Judith Carducci, Desmond O’Hagan, and Liz Haywood-Sullivan.  She has been strongly influenced by the works of O’Keeffe, Gauguin, and the Impressionists.
