I have been involved in a variety of creative pursuits since my teens. In the 1980's I started acrylic hobby painting and finally in 2004 began to study oil painting by traditional methods. In 2007, I took a pastel workshop and found I really liked the vibrant colors. I love color and sharp contrast. That is often what attracts me to a subject to paint. Although I have no formal education in art, I have taken classes and workshops from excellent nationally known instructors every year since 2004, usually three or four a year.
My father was a Colonel in the Air Force, so I moved every 6 to 18 months until my senior year in Chicopee, MA... One of the places I lived overseas was Taiwan. I have been interested in Asian decor ever since and use pieces in my still life paintings. I think moving also influenced my openness to all styles of painting. live in Lake Zurich, IL, with my two cats, Harry and Henry. Two of my three children live in nearby Chicago suburbs, with two of my grandchildren.
I spend almost all my time painting, and love it! I am a member of The Oil Painters of America, The Chicago Pastel Painters, Contemporary Fine Art International, Daily Painters of Illinois, Pastel Artists International and Still Life Artists international.
I have been published in “The Art Collector Magazine”,”2011 Lake Zurich Lifestyle Magazine”, “The Lake Zurich Courier”, and “Quintessential Barrington.” My paintings are in personal collections in Florida, Texas, New York, Massachusetts, Indiana and Illinois.
