It all started when I needed a way to be productive during the frequent but sporadic down times I had at my commercial art job. I needed a way to pursue my painting desires during work and in the ever shrinking windows of time at home. Having a collection of old cigar boxes on hand presented the perfect opportunity to play around with making a very small and easy to conceal painting studio.
Using the lid of the box to hold the panel I paint on, the base becomes my palette. When I need to pack it away, I simply close the lid and off I go. What started out as a creative solution to a problem has since become a bit of an obsession. The finished pieces are small in size but loaded with detail and charm.
Whether left unframed and leaning against some favorite old books on a shelf or floated in a frame individually, they are an exciting way to start collecting unique, original art.
I am lucky to have a great life with my wife and two kids. We live in Northwest Florida where the weather is usually nice and the beaches are beautiful. I have been painting for over twenty five years and never tire of the new discoveries it affords me. I hope you enjoy viewing my art as much as I enjoy creating it.
