My name Nithya in Sanskrit means eternal, and art is my way of seeking this immortality. I was always interested in sketching and doodling since a very young age, and got serious about my art and painting a few years ago. Life intervened in between with its share of nice and nasty events, which kept me away from my easel for nearly 2 years. Since the beginning of 2014, I am back to painting with renewed enthusiasm and commitment.
I paint a variety of subjects entirely depending on my mood. I love painting figures, especially children. The play of light on the human form fascinates me like nothing else. Most of my figurative paintings are based on references taken here in Europe, during the very very short lived summer. I am just recently discovering the joy of doing still life from life, thanks to the various tutorials on DPW. Consider me hooked! Another favourite subject of mine is bird portraits, which I paint using the palette knife. I love the texture that the knife gives and find it best suited for this subject.
I live in Germany with my husband and two little daughters.
