I have
been painting since the age of eight, exploring many mediums, and for years have been devoting my time to a body of work devoted to the South and other rural areas. I was greatly inspired by an extended motor
trip into the Blue Ridge, Smoky, and
I was taken by the beauty of slowly aging wooden structures, the texture and color of tin roofs, weather-beaten clapboard siding and crumbling red brick walls. I came to love the wide expanses of farmland, scrub, fields and deep forests in every season, and began sketching, painting on the scene and taking hundreds of photographs. I feel that these structures, these old farm houses, barns, stores, gas stations, and depots will soon be gone forever, and I fear, forgotten. I want to preserve these images. I'm impassioned by structures that once held life, love, and no doubt, hardship, within their crude walls. It is my hope that my love for these chosen images will capture an audience of kindred spirits that will feel the warmth, the love, the poetry, and the beauty of what once was.
