LAUREL DANIEL - BLOG | WEBSITE | EMAIL
Laurel Daniel lives in Austin, Texas with her husband, Bill. They have two grown children who live in San Diego and Atlanta. Laurel graduated with a studio art degree from Wheaton College in 1979. After almost 20 years in the graphic design business, she returned to oil painting in 1999. Laurel now paints full time and teaches painting at the Austin Museum of Art School.
Laurel is drawn to nature’s many forms, but works primarily with images of the landscape. She is an avid plein air painter and says, "Plein air painting is a huge part of my process - it feeds, motivates, and is the source for my larger studio work. It is an excuse to be outside, experiencing nature firsthand. The whole process of searching for the perfect spot and chasing the fleeting light is irresistible to me."
Laurel sells her small paintings on her blog. Her larger work is available at the Davis Gallery in Austin, Texas, the Anderson Fine Art Gallery on St. Simons Island, GA, and Tierra Montana in Livingston, MT. Her work is in many private and corporate collections and was recently published in International Artist magazine. She is president of Plein Air Austin; and a member of the Oil Painters of America and the Outdoor Painters Society.
