Oak Knoll Farms is located on Hwy 124 just outside of Beaumont, Tx. I have no idea what they actually do here, but I pass by often and usually find myself pulling over to snap a picture or two or make a quick sketch from the road side.
I love the twisting shapes of the trees that dot the property, and there are always lots of hay bales scattered around the pasture along with some horses. Here I have focused on a couple of hay bales in the foreground. Behind them towers a bare, twisting oak. The simple geometry of the bales makes a great contrasts to the organic forms of the grasses, trees, and even the textured lines of the hay. There's so much variety in this one little pasture that I could occupy myself for years exploring the many options to paint.
