This was painted from a photo I had taken at a wildlife ranch years ago; one of my favorite pics and one that I also exhibited as a photograph way back when.
I debated simplifying the background (similar trees are in the photo) but I really like how the pattern of the trees are an echo of the zebra's stripes, and continue the abstract rhythm of the whole. The composition was what made this one of my favorites!
