Talk about it in the Forum!
The UN has said up to 400,000 children in the Horn of Africa could die without aid and up to 11 million people require food assistance. In March of this year, over 1,500 artists and buyers stepped up and sold and bought fine art, through our Help Japan Challenge, to help the people of Japan. We hope to create the same opportunity to help the children starving in the Horn of Africa due to the devistating dought.

As before, everyone is welcome to post artwork for sale and all can bid to buy. To submit to the challenge, you do not need to be a member of Daily Paintworks, and there will be no charge or commission for the submission or the sale. To bid, or to submit, if you are not a member, all you have to do is register, which is free, quick, and easy, if you haven't already.

All work will be sold through a DPW Auction and the final transaction will be between the artist and the buyer, in most cases, through PayPal.

If you sell work through this fundraiser, you agree to donate 100% of the proceeds, minus the cost of shipping, which should be charged in addition to the winning bid, to an aid organization helping the children of the Horn of Africa. Additionally, you agree to provide a receipt to the buyer of your artwork as proof of the donation. It is the artist however, who is making the donation, and so who receives any tax benefit. Please indicate how you wish to help in the description of your challenge submission.

Here are two recommended aid organizations:

The American Red Cross
World Vision

The challenge will not have an official end, however we will actively promote it for at least one month.

Please help us spread the word about this fundraiser far and wide. Post it on your Facebook page, your website, your blog, and email and tweet all your family, friends, and patrons. We appreciate your help.

The DPW Challenge is about sharing, learning, and fun.

Each challenge consists of an image - either a photo or a painting - and a description or instructions. In most cases, participating is as simple as submitting your version of the image.

Anyone can participate by submitting an entry to any challenge - there are no deadlines! You can even submit more than once to a challenge. Any 2D media is welcome and don't be afraid to interpret.

Only for the non-fundraising challenges, please be sure to follow the spirit and the letter of the challenge. For example, each submission must be painted after the challenge is posted!

Simply click on the challenge you want to enter, then click on the Submit to the Challenge! link on the challenge page, fill in the dialog form that appears, and upload an image no larger than 1 mb and at least between 300 to 500 pixels tall or wide.

As a bonus, even if you are not a member of DPW, your challenge entries will be displayed with prices and links for purchase, in addition to description, painting media, and size. So be sure to enter all the information so someone can buy your painting!

And, the best part is there are no fees or commissions. You will also be able to mark your painting as sold when someone does buy it.

Now, will you submit to the Challenge?

Note: the submission form looks different for the Help Japan Challenge. It has a section for setting up the DPW Auction for your painting and does not allow you to set the price, sold status, or buy URL, since that information is controlled by the auction.
