This idea is an offshoot of the past Landmark Challenge. Mary Rochelle Burnham and I both painted statues. There is something about them that is fascinating. Paint the patina from a statue that has been outside for years or the wonderful shadows on the bust in the library. The wonderful sparkle of water on a fountain statue. It can be a small section showing the patina or the wonderful composition of a full view. It can be a bas relief or even the statues you will find in cemetaries that evoke the feelings of the loved ones.
You can use my photo reference. This statue is called the Defense of the Flag statue and is located in downtown Peoria, Illinois. This side is titled "History Writing the Scroll of Fame." The figure of a woman with her pen is writing " We write on page of granite what they wrought on the field of battle."
Please be sure to follow the spirit and the letter of the challenge.
For example, each submission must be painted after the challenge is posted.
