Art has always been a part of my life but became far more important after my retirement from an accounting career. I laid aside all other crafts to devote my time to developing and improving my artistic skills. Art is a pursuit that must be studied, pondered and consistently practiced to achieve any degree of proficiency. One day I hope my paintings will fully express my love for God's creation, enriching and inspiring others as I've been inspired by the work of so many others.

I was honored to be asked to teach adult art classes at Northwest Church in Federal Way, WA and have taught numerous colored pencil and watercolor classes. We frequently had full classes and wonderful reviews by the students. I laid that aside after 7 years to have time to advance my own art education. In pursuit of this goal, I have taken numerous workshops from excellent, professional artists including Robert Walton, Richard McKinley, Ned Mueller, Jim Lamb, and Ann Breckon, collected a large quantity of art instruction books and DVD's that I have studied extensively and, in 2015, began a 4-year online art course, Virtual Art Academy, based in Tuscany, Italy and created by Barry John Raybould (

Local art shows and competitions that I have entered include the Western WA Fair Fine Arts Competitions, Proctor Arts Fest, Proctor Art Walk, Gallery North Edmonds, Evergreen Association of Fine Arts Show at the Mercer Gallery, Franke Tobey Jones Senior Art Show, Tacoma Art Museum, Federal Way City Hall Gallery and the Dumas Bay Gallery, Auburn's Small Works, Big Presents art sale and it's gallery shows plus the Northwest Church Fine Art gallery and art show. Awards include an Honorable Mention at the Proctor Arts Fest - 2013; First Place at the Proctor Arts Fest - 2012; Honorable Mention at the Puyallup Fair - 2010; Second Place at the Proctor Arts Fest - 2009 and People's Choice Award at an art show held by the Northwest Church Fine Arts committee - 2005. In addition, one of my paintings was selected by the City of Federal Way for application to public utilities space in 2015.
