I am an artist from Wake Forest, North Carolina, USA. As a child, I loved to draw portraits from Time magazine covers while watching my mother paint with oils. I love all mediums: oil, acrylic, watercolor, pastel, charcoal, even a random ball point pen when nothing else is within reach wherever I happen to be. My favorite artists include the Masters, especially Van Gogh, Frida Kahlo, Ingres, the Modern Abstract Expressionists and some I consider living masters such as Albert Handel, Thomas W. Schaller, Gail Sibley, Carol Peebles, Robert Burridge and Carmen Navar.
My favorite commission was illustrating a book of poems by Keith Asch. He wrote poems on a K-Mart steno pad back in the 1970's and in the fall of 2021 his daughter asked me to illustrate the poems for a book she made as a gift to her father. He especially loved the painting I did for his poem "Hair." The pictures are of the cover and the illustrated poem.

I create art because it relaxes me and gives me joy. I have gifted most of my artwork over the last few years to brighten the spirits for the recipients, including religious icons for cancer patients in El Paso, Texas with my friend and fellow artist Josef Langston. I hope to brighten other recipients' lives with my offerings on DPW.
