Negative Painting in Watercolor on ZOOM
October 23 - 30, 2020 (8 days)
Learning to paint negative shapes (in other words, the spaces around and between the positive shapes in your painting) is the quickest way to take your watercolor painting to the next level. This fun workshop will help you understand what to look for to paint negative shapes and how to create depth in your paintings. Julie's demonstrations and exercises for you to practice will reinforce what you've learned. You will be amazed when objects "magically" appear as you learn to paint what is NOT the subject of your painting.

In this online workshop hosted live on Zoom, you will be able to view the other students in the class on your screen (smartphone, iPad or computer) as well as having a bird's eye view of Julie's demonstrations.
Painting Yourself Calm with Watercolor on ZOOM
June 4 - 26, 2020 (23 days)
Registration: May 25 - June 9, 2020 (16 days)
Whether you are continuing from last term or are picking up a watercolor class anew, everyone is welcome to join. Are you feeling a wee bit stressed in the midst of the chaos these days? Are you missing the energy of being among other artists? Do you remember how fun and free you felt when you painted as a kid? I will share how I use watercolor in a mindful and calming way to separate from the news of the day and subdue anxiety. Set aside the goal of creating a masterpiece (not forever, just for now). Subdue your inner critic by focusing on the process -- the simple joy of applying paint to paper and watching how it mixes and mingles, creating beauty on its own. You can let go of perfection because no mistakes are possible. All levels (everyone can paint!). In this online class hosted on Zoom streaming in real time, you will be able to view the other students in the class on your screen (phone, ipad or computer) as well as my demonstrations. No experience with Zoom? No worries, I will guide you through. 4 Thursdays 10:00 to 11:30 am June 4, 11, 18 and 23, 2020.
