Living in Rhode Island is compelling to paint our seaside rural community. I do this mostly with oil paint on linen or wood panels. Also appealing subjects are still life with native flora, figures of local industry - that would be fishermen and farmers, gardeners and shoppers, beach gatherers and naturalists - old buildings, towns, and interiors, plus glorious vistas of estuaries and the sea. Not always just a pretty picture, I love to paint the real, including the junky part of our landscape - what is called Contemporary American Realism.
