Artist Statement:

I worked for over 40 years in non-art related fields, moving from one job assignment to another in an effort to grow and stay engaged. It was both tedious and challenging. When I got the opportunity to retire and pursue painting full-time--there were doubts that I would be able to maintain a level of engagement without constantly shifting direction. Then I was re-introduced to Plein Air painting!Capturing and translating a fleeting moment in time challenges me in ways my "day job" never could.

My favorite medium is watercolor, a medium that many describe as both difficult and unforgiving. It's only paper and paint! My first mentor, the late Paul Herr of Lititz, told me to "just turn the paper over and paint the other side.""Paint every day," he said.I believe this "move on" attitude is with me every day.The growth has come over time, time that passes more quickly as I spend it doing what I love.
