Martha Crow lives and paints in an old house in downtown Brooklyn. Currently she is working on small still lifes, but she also paints portraits and figures as well as small landscapes and large industrial scenes of Brooklyn’s Gowanus district. Her work has been shown solo at Tatistcheff Gallery in New York City, as well as in numerous group exhibitions, including various Midyear Exhibitions of the Butler Institute of American Arts, in Youngstown, Ohio; several Silvermine Guild Exhibitions in Connecticut; and recently at Jackson Artworks in Omaha, Nebraska. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Oberlin College and a Master of Fine Arts from Queens College. She has also studied at the National Academy of Design, with Sam Adoquei, and at the Grand Central Academy of Art. Her awards include an Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation Grant, an Oberlin College Alumni Fellowship in Painting and various residencies, including one at the Virginia Center for the Arts.
