I love painting animals, especially birds, and landscapes as an allegory of my adventures driven by my desire to fly like the birds. I try to convey mood through the use of color, form, and perspective. I like to emphasize spatiality in order to explore concepts of distance and intimacy.
In Tokyo, where I was born and raised, my fascination with Western movies and astronomy inspired me to go to the University of Arizona. In Arizona I learned to fly hang gliders, and that has been my favorite way to explore the outdoors for the past 25 years. Marriage to a fellow hang glider pilot brought me to Ellensburg, and I earned my Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, with an emphasis in oil painting, at Central Washington University. I am a member of Oil Painters of America and Women Painters of Washington.
About this Gallery:
This gallery is where I post my small daily paintings. Each painting is usually sold without a frame. I would be happy to frame the painting here and ship it for you. Please ask me for framing options. If you are interested in buying more than one painting and combining shipping, please email me.
