Sally currently resides in Spokane. She attended Washington State University receiving a bachelor's degree in Fine Art. She has taught painting, jewelry making, and papermaking. Sally has participated in group shows and displayed in galleries along the West Coast.

STATEMENT

My mixed media works to some extent, have a mind of their own. I start with a glimmer of an idea, a vision, and then just let things evolve as I work with the materials. I like to take advantage of unexpected accidents, because spontaneous responses to uncertainty while painting lead to my most creative moments.

The pieces I create focus on working with form, texture, and space. By layering, scraping and using different materials, I strive to create a feeling of balance and harmony as in nature.  I don't try to recreate a scene, but instead, I strive to express its essence, whether a lone tree or a cityscape. My intention is to suggest, encouraging the viewer to use their imagination.
