I love to create. My mother is a very talented watercolor artist and has been the inspiration for me to pursue my love of art. I have always loved to draw and as a child I would spend hours drawing horses and other animals as well as photographing everything I could find. I pursued photography for many years with macro photography of flowers being my passion. I love taking flower portraits and my goal is to do as little photoshop as possible. I believe that the artwork is in the initial shot. Finding the best position, light and settings to capture the unique beaury of each flower increases my chances of displaying the photo straight out of the camera without any alterations. I also love taking my wide angle lens on vacations and capturing the essence of each place we visit. The drive for that "perfect shot " never goes away and I love the chase.
Photography provided a nutural segway into painting and I have never looked back. I love everything about oil paints. I love the colors, the smell, the canvas but most of all I love the promise. I love the anticipation and excitement of covering my canvas with color combinations that vibrate and sing. I love pushing myself beyond what I think I can do. Sometimes it works and many times it doesnt but I still learn. I see God in every stroke of my brush and every click of the shutter. Not a day goes by that I don't thank Him for the beauty of His creation praying that I can do it justice through my art. I have studied landscape painting under the award winning plein air painter and teacher Rick McClure and I have studied still life painting under the award winning artist Dorothy Woolbright. I have also taken many online and in person workshops with Daniel Keys, Elizabeth Robbins, Kelly Folson, Lori Putnam, Matt Smith, Tim Deibler, Tina Garrett and others along with self study through books and local classes.
I was admitted to my first juried photography contest in August 2021 in a local contest and my flower portrait Twirling won the BoldBrush Outstanding Digital contest in the March 2021 painting competition. My oil painting Hesitation won Honorable Mention in the June 2021 BoldBrush Painting competition and my photo A Place to Rest my Head won third place in the Oklahoma Art Guild 2021 show. I hope that you will feel blessed and relaxed as you look through my site.
