This cute little Dik-dik antelope is part of my African theme scratchboard art for the month of March. The Dik-dik are tiny little antelope that stand between 12-16 inches to the shoulder. Scratchboard is the application of thousands of scratches in multiple layers to create an image. It requires scratching away the top layer (usually black India ink) to varying degrees exposing the layer beneath (usually white clay) to create an image. If color is desired it is applied in multiple layers with scratching in between to develop depth. It is a lengthy, time-consuming process requiring a bit of patience. Signed on the front. Colors may vary a bit due to lighting when the image was taken or scanned or due to individual monitors.
