The Ten Minute Challenge - Again

That's right, it's time again for the 10-minute challenge. You know you need a refresher! And if you haven't done it yet, you're gonna love it!

The rules:

Get a timer. Divide your canvas or canvases (I used 2 - 6x6in panels) into 8 or so small squares (or rectangles). They should be smallish - a couple or 3 inches square or thereabouts - they don't have to be perfect. Now choose ONE object. Just one. Set your timer for 10 minutes. Paint your object in the first square. When the timer goes off - stop! I mean it. Repeat until you are done. You can rotate your object and/or change the light for each new square. Don't go back and "fix" the old ones, or else you won't see your progress.

The objective:

You want to get a feel for your object in terms of brush strokes. Make sure you SQUINT and SIMPLIFY! Whatever you do, DON'T get bogged down by the details or you'll never finish. Try to think of it NOT as an apple (or whatever you've chosen) but rather just shapes and colors and values. Paint what you see - not what you THINK you see. If you find yourself doing the same thing every time - experiment! You won't learn unless you try something different. Expect the first one to be bad - you are getting a feel for just how long 10 minutes is. They will only get better. If not, try it again tomorrow. Have fun!

Payment is through PayPal

All payments for winning bids will be made through PayPal directly into the artist's PayPal account. You do not have to have a PayPal account to pay for artwork. PayPal offers the option to pay instead with a credit card.

How to Bid

To view and bid in the auction of any painting in this Fundraising Challenge, simply click on the painting's thumbnail, and then click the Bid in the DPW Auction link in the popup that opens.

The Artist's Donation

Each participating artist has agreed to donate 100% of the proceeds of the sale, minus the shipping costs. Details on how your payment will be donated can be found in each painting's description on the painting's auction page. If it is not, please feel free to contact the artist by clicking the Email the Artist link on the painting's auction page.

Any tax benefit from the donation goes to the artist, since they are making the donation.

If You are the Winning Bidder

While DPW manages the fundraiser and the auctions, the actual purchase is directly between you and the artist. If you are the winning bidder at the end of an auction, you will receive an email with instructions on how to pay the artist by PayPal. You can also go to your my Auctions page and click the PayPal button to pay.

DPW will charge no fees in this fundraiser, however PayPal will charge the artist their normal processing fee.

Thank you for your kind patronage and generosity.
