Media: Oil on MDF Board
Size: 8x6 in
Portrait Deliberate Practice Series 49/250. "THE ROARING LION", 6" x 8", oil on MDF board. This is a piece in which I decided to paint in Alla Prima (wet on wet in one sitting)- with the Inside-Out Technique. This is a technique where I start from one spot on the face with no drawing and just keep painting out from that spot till the whole piece is complete. I decided to paint this 'roaring lion' because I love his hunger and desire to consistently improve his game and score goals. He reminds me of a warrior, hungry to win at all costs. Each stroke was carefully planted into the next stroke. It may look like it was done in a rush but that is deceitful because each stroke and the size of the stroke and the manner and direction of the stroke was all carefully considered before placing it on the canvas.
