Portrait Deliberate Practice Series 39/250. "THE SAGE 2", 8" x 6", oil on MDF
This piece was painted with the outside-in technique in full Alla Prima in approximately 1 hour. I'll post the recording later, I tried my best to record the whole process. I love oil paint, I love the fact that it can depict flesh and clothes and backgrounds in such a way that the whole piece melts in as one. The whole point of this series is to capture faces that are somehow submerged in shade. Revealing what's left in the light then becomes interesting. It's like trying to whisper in the dark.
