Portrait Deliberate Practice Series 38/250. "THE SAGE", 8" x 6", oil on MDF
This piece was painted with the inside-out technique in full Alla Prima. This whole piece is one of those series of paintings that I have been longing to paint for a while, I find it fascinating to paint faces that are somehow submerged in shadow, it adds a lot of drama to the face. I love painting faces with strong structure and character and the model, Clive, has these qualities in abundance. I always love it when a face can tell a silent story.
