I went horseback riding on the beach last week while on vacation on the east coast. I haven't ridden much and was a little nervous balancing up there. You can't see the horse's full height here, but she was tall. At one point on the wooded trail leading to the beach, the lead horse in front of me got spooked (possibly saw a snake or alligator), backed up beside and then behind me and my horse. The horse I was riding, Diamond, already seemed a little anxious from the wind, leaves blowing and splashing water nearby, but she stayed calm and we just paused on the trail (because I didn't know what to do.) Meanwhile the lead horse behind us was bucking with the guide riding her and that horse kicked the other horse behind us, who kicked her back. It was pretty scary for a minute. After a few seconds of order returning, I nudged Diamond and she proceeded bravely down the trail with me along as her passenger, and led the other horses and riders back to the stable. I was extrememly grateful that Diamond kept her cool in the chaos and provided a safe journey. This painting is in appreciation of her safe, calm and steady action.
This painting is custom-framed in a wide, distressed wood frame.
