Media: Watercolor On Arches #140 Cold Press Paper

An original portrait painting of the dramatic tropical plant common to the islands of Hawaii, Heliconia, with its distinctive iridescent red-orange flowers that resemble an exotic bird peeking out from the broad leaves, and focused dark foliage in the background to contrast with and emphasize the luminous flower. The bright white stamen of the flower serves as the focal point of the entire painting with its elegant curved lines that is echoed by the dancing pattern of the leaves in the background.
This piece of art is hand painted by award winning watercolor artist and daily painter Arena Shawn. It fits in a standard 8"x 10" photo frame and will looks great both on the counter of your personal space, or on the wall of your living room. The vibrant color of the artwork will enhance the decor in any room, adding a touch of liveliness and warmth to primarily cold colored interiors, and works in harmony with primarily warm colored interiors. I really loved the curvlinear movement that dominates the photo, and decide to use wet-in-wet dynamic lines to further emphasize that. I have also tried to play up complimentary red-green color scheme, using bright, saturated red to emphasize the Heliconia flower, and muted yellow-green and blue-green foliage in the background as "supporting actors". To avoid monotony in the "green, green, green" background, I have dropped in Ultramarine and Winsor Red wet in wet in small amount here and there to add some "zing" factor to it. This item will be shipped with 8" x 10" sized acid-free white mats and white foamcore backing board ready for framing, and a certificate of ownership signed by the artist. It will be shipped with secure, water-proof packaging to avoid any possible damage to the painting within 3 business days of payment.
