The main charaters in this little drama are the ginger jar and the brass cup. The blue bottles are back-up players, and help to create the Baroque mood of the painting. Some time ago I included in another painting (posted here on DPW) the same jar. I named that painting, simply, "Ginger Jar." I had a bit of a quandary as to what to name this one. So, on Facebook I asked for help. I had a good response with some interesting suggestions. The winner was my dear friend Alice of Troy, New York with the suggestion of "Cherry Blossom Blues." Her prize was a lifetime subscription to my blog. Of course, everyone familar with the blog, including Alice, knows that the blog is free. Which leads me to say: if you'd like to subscribe, just send an email to still.life.guy@gmail.com. I publish it monthly on email, and it consists of an image of one of my recent paintings and a couple paragraphs about the painting, including, in most cases, an interesting back story. Try it you might like it. You can always unsubscribe if you don't enjoy the blog. Very few people have done that, however.
