For many years politicians and others debated the reality of climate change. However, in recent years the evidence for climate change has become overwhelmingly obvious. Tropical storms and hurricanes are becoming more frequent, and both drought and severe flooding are occurring across the globe. In addition, wildfires are raging in the forests of North America and Europe. So far this year in the U.S., some 7.3 million acres of forests have burned. This painting rather dramatically represents the forests being burned by wildfires in North America. The painting is not intended to be beautiful, but rather to depict the effects of unwanted changes in our climate. You may not enjoy the painting, and that's okay, but I hope you'll find it thought provoking. Reminder of an upcoming exhibit: I will have approximately 40 oil and acrylic paintings at the East Greenbush Library during the entire month of November. The opening reception will be Sunday, November 3 from 2 to 4 pm. Joining me will be my dear friend, watercolorist Bill Bentley and his son Michael Bentley, a photographer. Please join us for the opening reception! The library is located at 10 Community Way, East Greenbush, New York. For many years politicians and others debated the reality of climate change.
