This patchwork landscape is typical of much of Ireland, particularly in the coastal areas. Frequent rainfall, also typical of Ireland, maintains the rich green colors. In this type of landscape the fields are separated by hedges; however hidden within many of those hedges ancient stone walls are often present. Various crops are grown, and some of the compartments are used for grazing. For fun, find the sheep grazing on this landscape. The bright yellow blossoms in the foreground are gorse which is commonly seen throughout much of Ireland.
