Having owned two Volkswagen vans (I called them buses.), I was attracted to the label of this San Jose, California beer. It's name, Drive Thru, comes from the large drive-through trees in California. You may know that you can actually drive a car through the hole cut in these ancient trees decades ago. Some have died, but most are living and doing well, I believe. Some are Redwoods, others are Giant Sequoia. However, the Volkswagen on the label is a stylized one, so I took the liberty of replacing it with my own 1966 blue and white model which, not surprisingly, I no longer own. But I have great memories of that vehicle, so it was very special painting it emerging from a giant tree.
