During much of the winter and early spring my wife, Mary Beth, helped her 98-year-old mom move into a retirement facility. While sorting through tons of things in Jane's condo, Mary Beth found many interesting items that no one in the family can remember having seen. One of those was this beautiful ginger jar. The flower sprig is from a hydrangea in our front yard. I'm more familiar with the globe-shaped hydrangea. I think this one may be the mountain variety. Perhaps some of you know. Hydrangeas are nice when fresh, but perhaps better dry. This one dries to a pinkish beige and is very stable when dry. It lasts forever, so it's great for painting. I enjoyed doing this painting, and I hope you like it as well. During much of the winter and early spring my wife, Mary Beth, helped her 98-year-old mom move into a retirement facility.
