"Good Friends" includes a candle stick made by the father of a friend of mine. The painting also contains a pitch pot made by a Native American potter. Another dear friend was with me when I purchased the pot. Thus, I associate this small painting with good friends.
Naming still life paintings is tricky. The tendency is to give them a name that describes the obvious, such as "two apples and a bottle." If that's what is in the painting, then the name is rather meaningless. Indeed, I have named some of my paintings that way, but I do try hard to give them more creative names. And in all honesty, my wife names many of them, and she does that very well! The 5 x 5 painting is on stretched canvas mounted on an 8 x 10 canvas board. It is nicely framed. This type of mounting gives a small painting a great deal more "presence."
