"Heading East" sort of represents the artist's dream of heading east, as in traveling back to that part of the world. During my professional career I had the privilege of spending time in Pakistan, India, and China. In the painting are books on the Khyber Pass, Ancient India, and Asia, plus a small book on sailing. Since I once owned and sailed small sailboats, I included the sailboat bookend to represent the mode of transport as, in my dreams, I head east. Another of my fantasies!
