I did this painting, “I Am of Ireland,” during the recent holidays. It’s based on a photo of a burial ground at Glendalough in Ireland. I shot the photo a few years ago. The title, “I Am of Ireland,” comes from the title of a poem by Nobel Laureate William Butler Yeats and is also the title of an exhibit I had recently at the Irish-American Heritage Museum in Albany, New York. From Wikipedia, a bit more about Glendalough: Glendalough (/ˌɡlɛndəˈlɒx/; Irish: Gleann Dá Loch, meaning "Valley of Two Lakes") is a glacial valley in County Wicklow, Ireland, renowned for an Early Medieval monastic settlement founded in the 6th century by St Kevin.
