So far as I know, Claude Monet never painted in Ireland. But for the purpose of naming this painting, I'm pretending he did. The two pieces of pottery, the goblet and the bud vase, were made in Ireland. The cup, purchased in Ireland, displays an image of Monet's "Poppy Fields." I approximated that image in my painting. Sharing this painting provides me with the opportunity to thank my friend and colleague, Irina Beskina, for introducing me to Gamvar varnish. For years I've used Damar varnish, which requires that an oil painting dry for six months before application. This is my first use of Gamvar varnish, and I'm so happy, since it can be applied when the painting is dry to touch. No long waiting. How did I not know until now? Thank you, Irina. By the way, check out Irina's work here on DailyPaintworks. She is a hugely talented artist! So far as I know, Claude Monet never painted in Ireland.
