This painting was inspired by a vase hand crafted by mosaic artist Dawn Mendelson of Long Beach, California, while she was an Artist-in-Residence at the Olive Stack Gallery in Listowel, County Kerry, Ireland. Mary Beth and I purchased the vase by way of the gallery's silent auction. Of course, my painting is not identical to the real vase, but its beauty inspired me to do the painting. A total useless factoid: There are 103 "pieces of glass" visible. So, one would presume that if we could see the vase in its entirety we would see about 206 pieces. Let's call it 210!This painting was inspired by a vase hand crafted by mosaic artist Dawn Mendelson of Long Beach, California, while she was an Artist-in-Residence at the Olive Stack Gallery in Listowel, County Kerry, Ireland.
