During the past several visits to my dentist, Dr. Antony DeSantis, I have admired this lovely vase. Recently, I shot several photographs. To set up the still life model I used what I call the proxy method. I used a vase of similar height and surrounded it with the smaller vase, book, and the two tea lights. I then mounted a photo of the vase to be painted on my easel. Obviously, rather than painting the vase in the model, I painted the vase in the photo. Using this method, I was able to get the light right, and I believe the overall outcome was good. Thank you, Antony and Melissa, for helping make this painting happen.
