For many of my paintings there is a story to be told. In the case of "Red Tie Optional" not a lot can be said. An artist friend gave me the old champagne bottle to which for no particular reason other than whimsy, I added the red bow tie. Thus the origin of the name.
Perhaps the most fun I had doing this one was painting the old brown crock. And, in my opinion, books add a lot to many still life arrangements. When I visit used book stores, I'm always on the lookout for antique books. I recently purchased one in a store in Ireland, so stay tuned for that book to appear in one of my upcoming masterpieces. :)
