Size: 20x16 in
The large brass pitcher in this painting was purchased from Fadó Gallery and Antiques in Dingle, County Kerry, Ireland. This is one of the galleries in Ireland that represents my work with several paintings. It also is the artistic home of late Pat Hennessy, a well-known Irish artist and teacher. His wife and daughter, Eva and Yvonne Hennessy, own and operate the gallery. So, the pitcher is special to me. Painting brass is a bit of a challenge. So far as I know there is no commercially available brass-colored oil paint. So, I used a mix of gold and bronze with a little copper and a touch of red to approximate the brass. Clearly, the pitcher is the lead character, with the other objects playing support roles. I threw in the votive candle for color. The brown crockery provides background. This is obviously the same pitcher that's in the painting called "Irish Brass and Mosaic"
