I did Ten Oranges several years ago, and if you are familiar with my more recent work, you know that I have mostly given up light backgrounds in favor of very dark ones. However, when I look back at the paintings done during the period of Ten Oranges, I like them better than I did when I created them. I especially like the way I did the oranges in this piece.
