For many years politicians and others debated the reality of climate change. However, in recent years the evidence for climate change has become overwhelmingly obvious. Tropical storms and hurricanes are becoming more frequent, and both drought and severe flooding are occurring across the globe. This painting is intended to illustrate flooding as a major element of climate change. During the hurricane season of 2024 hurricane Helene devastated much of western North Carolina and other parts of the U.S. Southeast. Flooding and high winds caused major damage. While the residents of the area probably could have used even more financial assistance, FEMA, by the end of 2024 had allocated a large sum of money for recovery.Yet, when Donald Trump became president he immediately claimed that FEMA had provided no assistance. It’s very sad that the storm did so much damage to the region. Equally sad is the damage Donald Trump is doing the entire United States of America, and to our image around the world.
