Not every city has public transportation that deserves special attention from tourists. Kryvyi Rih is an exception to this rule. It has a unique kind of subway - a hybrid of a subway and a tram.

Metrotram usually shocks tourists who do not know about its peculiarity: you seem to go down to a regular metro station, but instead of a train, a tram arrives. Moreover, the platforms are much larger than a tram car. There are only a few cities in the world where you can see this: Brussels, The Hague, San Francisco, Antwerp, and Krakow.

Why didn't they build a full-fledged subway in Kryvyi Rih? There are several versions of this. The first version is as follows: in the 1970s, when the system project was being developed, the city had 700 thousand inhabitants. The subway was considered an attribute of a city with a million inhabitants. According to another version, it was unacceptable to build a subway in a provincial city when even the regional center did not have an underground.

Whichever version is true, the fact is that the first stations of the metro were opened on December 26, 1986. Today, the subway runs on four routes. Some of the stations are located underground, others are combined and above ground. It takes 40 minutes to get from one end station to another.

Since I love to paint Cityscapes. Of course, I take most of the beautiful places from my travels, because they open my eyes to the beauty of the world, new places, color of the city, architecture, old buildings and much more.
Basically I like to paint European architecture, cities such as: Paris, Holland, Italy, Spain, I like to paint the architecture of New York, California and other states.
