On a hot mid-summer afternoon in Oregon, it's important to swim in a cool river before a painting session. I rough in my sketch with burnt sienna, then work dark to light in focal zones of the painting. I tried to capture the range of different warm and cool greens in the many micro-landscapes that this scene offered. It was hot which helped me experiment with more dry-brush work than I usually use, in the texture of the steep hills on the shore.Plein air, alla primaOil paint on cotton canvas panel, varnished, unframed *Works are listed un-framed.
