Simple objects sometimes make the most interesting paintings. This is a random scattering of silverware on a wood butcher block. I started this painting with a coat of red and I allowed some of it to show through at the edges of the shapes. The little bits of red and orange/red is a nice contrast to the deep blue shadows of the butter knife. Random trivia- I estimate that the butter knife with the yellow handle is from 1987. “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”.
